Hello students and families!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This is just a reminder that pool starts on Monday, December 1st for grades 3, 4, and 5, and will continue until the winter break! On days that your student has physical education, please remind them to bring a bathing suit, a towel, and hair brush and clothes to change into! A bag to put the wet clothes in afterwards is a great addition! Students may also choose to bring goggles, flip flops, a swim shirt or ear plugs for extra personal comforts! Thank you for your support and I look forward to having a great month in the pool!! Please feel free to contact me with any concerns about this unit that you may have!

Thanks again,

Ms. McLaughlin

Growth Mindset

Hello students and families! I very much enjoyed meeting a lot of you at both open houses! It is great to see the amount of support our students have at home and the time you take out of your busy schedules to share their world a little!

My classes have recently finished a soccer unit and are now working on team handball and throwing and catching skills.  I wanted to take a minute to discuss a theme our school has adopted this year and one that I plan to focus on in our next unit, team building and adventure-based learning.  This concept is referred to as the Growth Mindset and it explains that our intelligence and other abilities are not fixed.  Growth minded people understand that with hard work and effort you can grow and change your intelligence.  These people look for challenges and are not turned away by failure because they understand that challenges and failures are part of the learning process and can actually make you smarter.  Please take a minute to view the video below with your family to help understand the importance of this concept.

Please also check out the Fall 2014 Physical Education Newsletter under the newsletter tab for ideas on how to stay active as a family in around the Middleboro area!

Thanks for reading and please feel free to leave comments!
